What is special about natural dyes and handspun wool?
If you see an Oriental rug weaving (, bags, pillowcases, etc.) of the 19thc notice that the colors have a depth and richness attractive of them. Natural dyes produce a wide range of colors that have a remarkable ability to harmonize with others.
Research on the chemistry of these dyes has shown that in the case of red madder root this is a cocktail of at least 40 active pigments present to varying degrees. The relative percentages of each depends on many factors such as soil mineral content, age of the root, the die temperature, and chemistry of acids (mineral, which fix the dye to wool, that is, alum, iron salts.).
These affect the tone and nuance of color and the broad spectrum within of each color makes it much more likely to resonate with other natural dyes. The hand spun wool in blood varies of rotation and the thickness of the yarn. This has two results, when dyed the amount collected varies along the wire, less in the middle of a section or twisted.
When href = "http://www.thunderstrand.com/page6.htm"> natural dyes are interwoven in a cut pile carpet and is a variation of tones and hues that add color block that has a depth and richness. Another effect of the labor spun wool is that due to the variation in thickness of the wire is inserted into the fabric of irregularities has the edge off of lines and borders, which adds a natural aspect of life, rather than the mechanical regularity of wool spinning machine. When these two are added together you get a fabric that has a life, natural, vibrant quality it comes from the craftsmanship.
